PLANO, Texas – Southwest LTC (SWLTC) released the following statement on major developments in the recent incident involving racially-charged, offensive social media posts attributed to a Willow Park employee:

“Late this afternoon, SWLTC was made aware from law enforcement that they have secured a confession from an individual who has admitted to creating the racist, inflammatory social media posts in an attempt to malign our employee’s reputation with a specific intent to cause them to lose their job with us. This individual is not affiliated with Willow Park. We expect to know more in the coming days.

As the next several steps of the legal and criminal process unfold, we would like to again reiterate our sadness and disappointment that this incident has happened at all. We are more committed than ever to our core values of diversity, inclusion, and equality for our staffs and residents.”

At Southwest LTC, and all Southwest LTC facilities, we strive to provide a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace and living environment, where all employees, volunteers, residents, and their families and friends—whatever their gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation or identity, education or disability—feel valued and respected.

We understand that the recent incident involving one of our employees at our Willow Park facility has been upsetting and disappointing to employees across our business. We share in that sadness and disappointment. We are conducting an internal investigation, as well as working with the FBI and local police, to resolve the issue quickly.

We are totally committed to a nondiscriminatory community and provide equal opportunity for employment and advancement in all of our departments, programs, and worksites, as well as a nondiscriminatory living environment for our residents and their families and visitors.  We very much respect and value diverse life experiences and heritages, and strive to ensure that all voices are valued and heard.

These core beliefs are reflected in our commitment to modeling diversity and inclusion and to maintaining an inclusive environment with equitable treatment for all.  To that end, we take steps to see that diversity, inclusion, and equal treatment are connected to our mission and critical to ensuring the well-being of our staff, our residents and our communities as a whole.

Our management team leads with respect and tolerance, and we expect all employees to embrace this path and to carry it out it in their workplace interactions and through everyday practices for the equal treatment of all our staff, residents, and families.

In an effort to better promote these core values SWLTC, and SWLTC facilities, will modify its training and on-boarding procedures for new hires to include diversity and inclusion training. Additionally, all employees will have continuing education along those lines. Finally, SWLTC will be making financial donations to organizations whose work embodies our core values of diversity and inclusion.
